  • Companies without access to their web servers can still tag their pages. 

Web Analytics Economic Factors 

On-site analysis of log files is most common. The process is often outsourced but can be done in-house as well. A company can also consider the economic differences between these two models when deciding which model to purchase. 

  • For logfile analysis, it is commonly priced as a one-time software purchase, but some vendors introduce maximum annual page views and charge extra for further processing.  
  • Logfile analysis requires storing and archiving data, which quickly becomes enormous. It is not expensive to do this on a hardware level, but it can be challenging on an overhead level. 
  • Maintaining software, including security patches and updates, is essential for logfile analysis.
